Multiple Intelligences

Howard Gardeners' multiple intelligences approach identifies 8 basic intelligences viz.
Logico-mathematical
Linguistic
Interpersonal
Intrapersonal
Spatial
Musical
Bodily kinaesthetic and
Ecological

Schools all over the world in the last few centuries have focussed mainly on the first two of the intelligences - Logico mathematical and linguistic. Yet every human being is stronger only in any 2 or 3 of these intelligences. How can schools do justice to children whose stronger intelligences are say Linguistic, interpersonal and musical ? Methods developed with the Multiple intelligence framework help children learn through their stronger intelligences.

But more importantly this framework is really effective in helping parents and teachers get rid of their prejudices about the intelligence of children and help each child shine in her own way. The multiple intelligence perspective can help many a child from getting her self-esteem battered if she is not good at maths or science.
